2. The news in detail
Puerto del Rosario Town Hall on Thursday presented the Comprehensive Inclusive Classrooms and Multisport Programme (PIAIM), an initiative that promotes social inclusion, personal development and the active participation of young people with specific educational support needs through adapted sports, training and leisure activities.
The launch took place in the council's plenary hall, with the participation of Mayor David de Vera and the director of the Asociación Social Creciendo Yaiza, Ligia Molnar Abel, the body responsible for delivering the project. The programme will run until 31 December 2026 and offers a wide range of activities within the Aulas Enclave and also in the afternoon, supporting continued learning beyond the strictly academic setting.
Planned actions include weekly emotional wellbeing workshops, creative activities, training in independent-living skills, adapted sports sessions and community outings designed to strengthen autonomy, coexistence and social skills. The programme has already begun some activities, among them a recent visit to the Canary Islands Parliament, and forms part of the council's commitment as a Child-Friendly City.
