The Toston Lighthouse is located in Punta Ballena, a bump of land surrounded by rough waters just 5 kilometers north of El Cotillo.
It is called a lighthouse but it is actually a complex of three lighthouses. The lighthouse in the center, the oldest, is 6 meters high and dates back to 1897, the year in which it became operational for the first time.
Another lighthouse was built in 1960 and is 15 meters high and a third, 30 meters, was built in 1986. Together with the Martiño lighthouse in the islet of Los Lobos and that of Punta Pechiguera in Lanzarote they form a triangle to signal the passage of ships on the Bocaina strait which is the strait that separates the islands inside you can find the Museum of Traditional Fishing, an activity linked to the history of Fuerteventura and its inhabitants.
The small museum collects interesting objects, images and audio that tell the stories, customs and traditions of Majoreri fishermen.

The government has introduced a series of checks for travelers arriving in Spain:
- The obligation to wear a mask for all people over 6 years on public roads, in open spaces and in closed public spaces, where it is not possible to maintain a social distance of at least one and a half meters. The mask is not mandatory for people with respiratory problems or diseases and for those who play sports or consume food. The use of the mask is also mandatory on public, air, sea, rail and private vehicles, if passengers do not live at the same home. Failure to comply with this measure will result in a fine of up to € 100.
- Passengers arriving in Spain by air or sea will have to undergo a measurement of body temperature, which must not be equal to or higher than 37.5 degrees centigrade. Shipping companies will be able to measure this temperature before arrival at the Spanish port.
- Tour operators, travel agencies and transport companies will have to inform of the obligation to fill in the "disclaimer" form.
Passengers who are suspected of suffering from COVID-19 or other communicable pathology will have to undergo a further health assessment, which includes a second measurement of body temperature, in case a possible pathology is confirmed, we will proceed to transfer the traveler in a healthcare facility.

Spain has opened its borders to all member states of the European Union since June 21, in addition to having lifted the quarantine for travelers. El Gobierno de España sabe, desde hace mucho tiempo, que existía la posibilidad de encontrar petróleo en las Aguas Canarias. Se sospechaba que en las grandes profundidades de nuestras aguas podría encontrarse petróleo, pero el proceso de extracción sería muy difícil y costoso.
En el año 2001, el gobierno del partido popular presidido por José María Aznar otorgó los permisos para dicha extracción a Repsol. En consecuencia, se presentó un recurso para paralizar dicho permiso ya que a éste no estaban vinculadas las Medidas Medioambientales pertinentes y en el año 2004 el Tribunal Supremo anuló los permisos aunque previamente Repsol ya había realizado las pruebas sísmicas. Tras esto y con José Luis Zapatero en la presidencia, se volvió a plantear la posibilidad de reactivar los permisos. El debate quedó zanjado. NO SE REALIZARÍAN LAS EXTRACCIONES A MENOS QUE HUBIERA “CONSENSO EN LA SOCIEDAD CANARIA”
