
International Surfing Day Fuerteventura at Flag Beach
International Surfing Day is celebrated worldwide every third Saturday of June, and Fuerteventura's biggest celebration takes place at Flag Beach, just south of Corralejo. Organised by local surf schools, environmental NGOs and the municipality, the day combines free beginner sessions, a beach cleanup, eco-friendly product stands, food trucks and a sunset collective paddle-out where hundreds of surfers form a giant circle in the water as a tribute to the ocean.

Location: Flag Beach, between Corralejo and the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park.

By car: from Corralejo head south on the FV-1 for 3 km; large free parking at the entrance to the dunes.

By bus: Tiadhe line 6 stops at Corralejo bus station, then 10 min walk south or shuttle service during the event.

4. What to Expect

5. Programme Highlights
Each year the schedule is slightly different, but typical activities include: free 1-hour beginner surf lessons led by certified local instructors, beach cleanup with reusable bags provided by the organisation, talks on marine ecology and microplastics, kids art workshops with recycled materials, food trucks with vegan options, a live concert in the late afternoon, and the famous sunset paddle-out closing the day.

7. Did you know…
International Surfing Day was founded in 2005 by the Surfrider Foundation and Surfing Magazine to celebrate the lifestyle and culture of surfing while raising awareness for ocean protection. Fuerteventura's edition is one of the largest in Spain by participation, regularly drawing 400+ surfers and 1,500+ beach visitors. Several Canarian pros have grown up taking part in this event.
